Z-Wave is a meshing protocol which is ideally suited for home automation. Meshing means that each device can act as a repeater and router, so there is no need for a point to point link between the controller and the z-wave device it is trying to get to. As multiple routes can be available, the failure of one device shouldn't affect the network.
Z-Wave is a technology that makes standard products, like lights and thermostats, 'smart'. It does this by allowing you to control them remotely, or on a scheduled basis. It also allows decisions to be made based on their current state, i.e. whether they are on or off or hot or cold. Using a Home Automation controller you can group all your devices into one place and have central control of your home.
We like Z-Wave because:
- It's easy to install
- It does not require any new dedicated wiring
- Z-Wave products are all certified to work with each other
- It's affordable, unlike proprietary solutions using other technologies
- It's been around for over 10 years
- It's secure
- It's already used in 20 million homes
Home Automation Direct specialises in Z-Wave technology and devices. We use it ourselves and once setup integrates seamlessly into your life and daily routines.
Simply start with a plug in appliance module and a controller to automate a lamp and you'll soon wonder how you managed without it.
